Our Advisory Selling Methods bring out your natural skills at connecting with people so you maximize your performance.

These methods change the game of selling completely. Well into the later 20th-century, selling took on a competitive focus. Agents and clients worked against each other to see who could outsmart the other. Near the end of the century, a new form of selling emerged called consultative selling. This type of selling was more client-centric and less about getting one over on the client. The job of the consultant is to come up with solutions and consultative selling agents and their companies came up with solutions looking for problems. Unfortunately, this still involved a great deal of convincing.

The Advisory Selling Methods bring out the natural selling skills we already have within us.

Once agents learn the practices, they see them unfolding before them in every conversation. When agents practice the practices they bring out their natural advisory selling skills so they can be developed. They quickly shed the host of engrained tactics, techniques, triggers, tricks and traps of normal selling which are essentially unnatural acts. By using the practices consistently, agents change who they are being. Clients see agents as an ally rather an adversary. Agents let go of focusing on what they will get and shift to focus on what they can give to clients. When clients win, agents win.

 Collaboration is a power hidden with each person, each partnership, each team, and every organization. 

Unleashing this hidden power leads to the accomplishment of the most extraordinary results. Collaboration means people working together with each other rather than working against each other. It can be shocking to discover how much people in organizations work against each other in a bid for self-preservation. Yet collaboration is the most reliable pathway to self-preservation. This means working with others to ensure that everybody wins.   

Regardless of our level of accountability within a partnership, team, project or organization, we already have within us all that we need to be highly effective leaders. 

To accomplish this, we must first dismantle the grip of our accumulated notions about leadership and discover the truth of how leadership works. This is important because failure to take a leadership role in any endeavor, dooms that endeavor to failure. We may understand leadership in physiological or psychological terms. Either the biggest person pushes everyone else around or the most emotionally dramatic person gets everyone to do what they want. But neither of these is leadership. Leadership is an ontological phenomenon. It has to do with who you are being and less about what you do or what you have. 

In our work on leadership, we step beyond the limits of situational leadership and deal in ontological leadership. 

This is about being the leader who is adept at assisting others in being leaders as well. We focus on four areas of leadership which include Leadership, Management, Mentoring and Coaching. These four entirely different sets of skills usually get collapsed into each other. Leadership and Management are two sides of the same coin. Mentoring and Coaching are two sides of yet another coin. Leaders must know how to apply these very different skills-sets in their efforts to maximize people’s performance.

Advanced Coaching Methods

Coaching is an eductive process. This means that true coaching is about bringing out from within another person the brilliance they already have within them and guiding them in putting that to work.

But coaching easily gets confused with teaching, mentoring, training, and even managing. All of these skills are important but they are not coaching. Those of us who started our coaching business in the mid 1980’s have seen the emergence of a huge crop of professional coaches. This is no surprise because natural coaching skills already reside within each of us. The challenge is bringing those skills out and putting them to work effectively. 

Coaching works from the inside out.

We all utilize a variety of modes of influence. A teacher tends to use an inductive more combined with a deductive mode. He or she may say we should study hard because if we don’t we may fail the test and that could keep us from getting the grade we need to get into college. This is a bit of a threat which is the mark if the inductive mode of influence designed to induce action. The deductive mode is about explaining how something should be done in the hope that the student will take a prescribed action. Teachers sometimes fall into a reductive mode in which they ask why a student is so far behind everyone else. They may do this in the hope that the embarrassment might motivate a student to take an action. When nothing else works they may even turn to a seductive mode by bribing students with a gold star of they get enough right answers. 

Coaching is the art of bringing out from within a person the natural skills hidden within. 

On the other hand the coach on the practice field does something quite different. Yes, they indulge in the inductive, deductive, reductive and seductive modes of influence just like the teacher. But their dominant mode of influence is eductive simply because everything that is needed to develop a high performing player is already inside of the person and must be brought out and put to work effectively. There are stories of the great teacher who include the eductive mode in their classroom. For the most part we have little understanding of this coaching magic and how it works. As a result we are trained as professional coaches to use a lot of tactics, techniques, triggers, tricks and traps to stick in our infinite wisdom and somehow make people better. This may work but it is not coaching.

Eductive Learning Methods

The limits of human creativity and brilliance lie well outside of the narrow band that established institutional learning covers. 

People learn is very different ways. Education gets a bad rap because young people are forced to spend a small fortune which may take years to repay to learn a body of information they may never use in their entire lifetime. This leaves tens of thousands of college graduates each year poorly equipped to deal in a rapidly changing world that is highly competitive which makes it very difficult to succeed. Yes, a few make it through this gauntlet in fine style. But so many flounder and often fail to achieve anything close to what they are capable of achieving. This happens because the entire approach to education is upside down.
