Most people have a lot of confusion when it comes to compensation and advancement. Hence, retention is at risk and can easily become an issue when they are not clearly resolved. There are three toolkits:

You will learn how to avoid the pitfall of an exploitation model and the downfall of an entitlement model. The reality is that people should be paid for what they do and no more. There can be bonuses and rewards above that but such additional compensation is purely discretionary and not part of job compensation. When people are only paid for what they do, they naturally want to earn more, so they are willing to further develop their skills in order to achieve more. People who are underpaid sabotage the process. People who are overpaid don't bother to grow their skills.
